...and I'll be reporting from here.
Journalism needs to thrive if we want democracy to thrive. In recent times, we have seen the government attack our first amendment rights. From the federal government forcing Julian Assange to plead guilty, to the city of Los Angeles suing me twice, to the unprecedented number of arrests and physical assaults on reporters by police— it is more dangerous to be a reporter in the United States than ever before.
But it has also become that much more important to continue reporting.
Legacy news outlets are facing layoffs, some outlets are beholden to their donors or being co-opted by those in power and others just do not have the resources to fund investigative reporting. Journalism is becoming harder to do and make a living off of.
This is why I am reporting from here now. To give my stories a home, free of outside influence and free of censorship.
I will be migrating my previous reporting onto here, providing updates on stories, sharing information from public records, sharing my photography and commenting on issues relating to the above.
Inadvertent will always be free to read here. However, if you find yourself with some extra cash, consider shooting it my way to offset the cost of reporting.
In April 2023, I was sued by the city of Los Angeles in a lawsuit seeking a censorship order on public records that they allegedly provided to me “inadvertently”. In January 2024, the city sued me again, trying to force me to pay for their own actions. The lawsuits went in my favor thanks to a relentless legal team, but the city’s message was heard across the US: they are vehemently opposed to our first amendment rights.
